I purchased this pan for my son's 1st birthday. It looked adorable and I thought it woulod be a real treat that every child would get a train car decorated with candy. I made 9 different cakes in this pan and only one came out good enough for the party (at midnight before the party!). I was so frustrated with a $35- pan. I even called the company and the woman I spoke to told me to keep trying and freeze the cars that came out good so when the party came I would have at least a couple of cars and maybe a whole train if I was lucky! I started "practicing" about 6 weeks before the big day. I did end up talking to the Nordic ware store in MN and they sent me 3 bunt mixes. I tried 2 with no luck and then used a pound cake. I even tried the recipe on the card that came with the train and even my 1 year old did not like it. My husband told me it was just a bad cake recipe with no flavor. I do have experience with baking so if was not because I was a novice. I just had very bad luck.
